will a laptop with windows 7 cost more than one with vista?
I’m thinking about wether or not I should wait for windows 7 to buy a laptop, or just buy one with vista now.
Take a $800 laptop with vista right now, and take that same computer, but with windows 7 when it comes out, will they charge me more for that same laptop, but has windows 7?
(Ps. What happened with prices compared to XP, when vista came out?)
The prices don’t really change. Microsoft wants to promote their newest operating system, so they don’t charge manufacturers more for the newest OS.
In some cases, they actually charge more for the older one. This was the case at least at one point with XP, as Microsoft was trying to force people to adopt Vista.
A laptop with the same specs won’t cost more with one or the other, but you may need a machine with higher specs to run Windows 7. On the other hand, if you get one with Vista and want to upgrade to Windows 7, you will have to pay extra for that upgrade.
