Which Xbox 360 3 Red Lights Repair is the best?
It happens too often with Xbox 360′s. You power up your Xbox and you are greeted with 3 red lights. You want to know two things.
1) Why did this happen?
2) Can this be fixed?
Lets tackle the first question. The Xbox 360 design lacks cooling effcientcy. The case is too compact to allow proper cooling of the components, particularly the Graphics Processor. Over time, the continuous heat actually cracks the solder joints where the processor pins connect to the circuit board. When the processor pins separate from the motherboard this causes the general hardware failure and the console will not work at that point. In reality your Xbox 360 console is a compact gaming computer. If you compare your Xbox 360′s cooling system to your home computers you will soon see the problem.
Lets look at the second question; because this is a frequent problem with Xbox 360 consoles, multiple solutions are found on the internet that supposedly solve the Red Ring of Death. This is important, Microsoft provides a 3 year warranty against the 3 red light error. This warranty will be voided if you try to fix the Xbox within this time frame. If it isn’t within the warranty period there is one method that by far outweighs all the others. The common name for this repair is the “x-clamp” fix.
Using this method requires that you take the console apart and adjust the cooling system. Using washers and bolts, the x-clamps are replaced. New thermal paste is applied. This increases the cooling efficiency of the heatsink. Before the console is reassembled it is overheated which causes the solder to re-flow and connect the processor pins to the motherboard. I have tried multiple Xbox 360 repairs. If I had to pick what I think is the best repair I would say the X-clamp fix.
